How To Pick the Best High-Value Keywords For Your Pay-Per-Click Campaign   by Marco R

If you are planning to build a site around the premise of getting visitors to click on contextual ads (Google AdSense,YPN,etc) then there are some things to consider. You want to try and focus on high value keywords to build your sites around. If your revenue will be dependent on clicks of these paid ads, then you don't want to shoot for 15-cents-per-click ads. You want to shoot for 8,9,10 dollar per click ads. Often these will be in the financial market, but there are other markets with high value keywords.

So how to you go about choosing these high value keywords? Well, you can guess what keywords would generate a decent cost-per-click...but that only gets you started. You need to verify your guesses before going to the trouble of building a site around them. For example, even though the keywords "britney spears" might be a popular search term these days...you're not going to find ads paying very much geared around that keyword phrase. Generally, the higher the cost-per-click of an ad,the more competitve the market is for that keyword/keyword phrase. So you need to settle on a happy medium of
cost-per-click and competition that you feel you can compete with.

When you're trying to determine the value of these keywords, one great tool to use is the Google AdWords Keyword Tool (https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal) Other options include the website Spyfu.com which will let you search on keywords and then give a range of cost-per-click prices and also other helpful information. If you're looking for a more full featured tool that does a lot more than just return keyword results and give you PPC prices, then consider MicroNicheFinder. I've used it for creating my own marketing sites and it is one of the few programs I've paid for and been truly,100% satisfied. For each keyword phrase you type in,it will return its own set of similar keywords and keyword phrases. You can see the search volume for that month, the strength of competition for those keywords, the PPC costs, and much much more. You can drill down into a particular keyword phrase that you hit upon and see more results that MicroNicheFinder comes up with that get even more granular.

Some other options include buying lists of keywords from sites such as TopPayingKeywords.com. I won't go into this option further because sites that sell keyword lists are on their way out,in my opinion. You're better off investing in a tool like MicroNicheFinder or using a free alternative to do your keyword research and pick the phrases that pay the best per click but are not in an extremely competitive market.
